VOGUE India: Type Design

The purpose of the design and what needs it has to fulfil has to be crystal clear from the beginning. To design a Type Face in an Asian or regional language, requires to study its forms and shapes, social relevance and connotations attached with the same.  In order to make a design successful, it has to fulfil every aesthetic and functional need, across all platforms. Making it compatible with all the distinctive mediums that a publication can exist through.

Making a sequel to the already existing Latin Typeface, Volta, its important to study the Typeface from a 360 degree perspective, and researching where it has been used previously.
Applying Indian context to global covers is a novel yet impactful move. Where the Typeface is viewed, analysed and scrutinised by thousands of individuals. Maintaining the image of the latin version as well as the legacy of Vogue Covers, every stage of this detailed (2 months) design process was looked at carefully with an eye to detail and functionality.
